Due to an earthquake, parts of central Christchurch off-limits and some attractions are not operational. These include Cathedral Square, Canterbury Museum, Christchurch Tramway,Christchurch Gondola and the Arts Center. However, there is always open to many attractions and Christchurch International Airport continues to operate normally. If you are visiting the city, we recommend the beautiful botanical gardens on foot. When the day is hot, we recommend a relaxing stay in a boat on the River Avon. The center of Antarctica (near the airport) offers a unique insight into the wonders of this fascinating continent frozen. If you have a half day period, we recommend a visit to the port of Lyttelton, which offers a beautiful view over the water on the wild coast and the hills of Banks Peninsula. If the weather is nice, why not board the ferry port of diamond for the short drive to the scenic port of diamond. In the warmer months of the year, Sumner beach is also worth visiting.
